Following an infection in a teat, milk acidity will increase, which can be confirmed using the sensitivity of the mastitis indicator paper

Milk from the infected quarter(s) will change the yellow spots to green or bluish green

Milk from healthy quarters will either leave the yellow color unchanged or change it to light green

Collect a few drops from the quarter to be tested and place them on the yellow spots on the indicator paper - each quarter in its own circle - and compare the color change

All quarters are rarely infected to the same degree

Therefore, you will notice differences in color

The air in the milking area contains ammonia (due to manure) and may change the color to light green - therefore, do not keep the indicator paper in the milking area; store it in an airtight container
